In a very fortunate turn of events, geologists have discovered massive Gold mines, around 3500 tonnes, around Sonbhadra district of Uttar Pradesh. This accounts to about 5 times the national gold reservoir which is somewhere around 626 Tonne at the moment.
The discovery comes after two decades of search by the Geological Survey of India and the Uttar Pradesh Directorate of Geology and Mining.
“The government is thinking of putting these deposits on lease for mining, for which survey is being done. Gold deposits are found at two places – Sonpahadi and Hardi field. GSI estimated gold deposits of 2700 tonnes in Sonpahadi while 650 tonnes in Hardi filed,” KK Rai, District Mining Officer said.
He also said that the gold blocks will be auctioned online after the completion of geo-tagging process by the team. The team has been asked to submit a report to the GSI’s Lucknow office by February 22.
Ever since the news broke out, Twitter has lost the collective calm and has been hilariously meme-ing the incident. This is how some of the users reacted-
