यत्र नार्यस्तु पूज्यन्ते रमन्ते तत्र देवता:।
यत्रैतास्तु न पूज्यन्ते सर्वास्तत्राफला: क्रिया:|

This is a verse from ancient scripture, Manusmriti which means “Where Women are honored, divinity blossoms there, and where women are dishonored, all action no matter how noble remain unfruitful.”

We didn’t take a leaf from ancient wisdom and exploitation of women is  an all time high in current scenario. And since art imitates life, most of our movies have male actors as central characters and the women protagonist’s role is to make her hero look better, satiate the demented urges of audience by dancing on raunchy numbers or be in the frame as a beautiful but dispensable accessory.

It’s a shame that more than 100 years of cinema has passed but we still have just handful of movies that could truly be called as women centric.

A few of them we are listing here and you can watch them right now on these digital platforms.
